For GPs & referrers

Referring a patient

How to send us a referral, what to include, and what happens once it reaches us.

Send your referral to EDI: topsouth

Please send all referrals electronically — we do not accept referrals by post or fax.

Before you send

What to include

  • Presenting symptoms and relevant history
  • Current medications
  • Recent bloods, ECGs or other relevant results
  • Insurer, and Southern Cross policy number if applicable
  • Current contact details for the patient

Please refer directly to Pacific Radiology for calcium scores.

Urgent referrals

We still require a written referral — we can't action anything without one. If a patient is unwell enough that they can't wait for a referral to be reviewed, please send them to the Emergency Department.

What happens after you refer

One of our cardiologists reviews the referral and decides which consultation or investigations are appropriate. We then contact your patient directly to arrange the next steps. Depending on clinical priority they may go onto a waiting list rather than be given a date immediately.

Reports back to you

A written report is sent to you electronically after every appointment.

Billing and insurance

We are a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider and arrange pre-approvals for Southern Cross patients.

What your patient can expect

Once you've referred, we take it from there. Our For Patients page walks them through the whole process — how we make contact, what to bring, and how costs work.
